About Engineering Plastics
These engineering plastics are predominantly a range of materials that are produced to replace and improve performance over traditional materials such as brass, bronze or steel etc. This category of plastics are also mainly designed to perform in more mechanical or engineering applications as opposed to decorative applications where other plastics are more suitable.
Engineering Plastics Names:
There are many types of actual engineering plastics namely:
- Nylon
- Acetal (Delrin®)
- HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
- Polypropylene
- PVC
- PTFE (Teflon®)
- PEEK
- Polyurethane
- Laminated Plastics (Tufnol®)
- UHMWPE
Most of the above engineering plastics will also often have trade names given to them by manufacturers or they can also sometimes overtime inherit a manufacturers name in place of the actual plastic material name.
